When the truth finally comes out, I'll admit, I was a little disappointed but it leads to a big conclusion. He vows to not stop trying and tries to get Diana to ask Danny why she fled Gotham in the first place. Of course, Batsy shows up looking for Danny and Diana protects her. She's so strong, protective and kind to everyone she meets that, if you weren't already, you fall in love with her. This story is such a great way to get to know Diana as a character. Diana is bound by her values to honor the Amazon's way of life and to protect those who need it. This girl, Danny, makes this pledge to Diana and Diana takes her in, despite not knowing anything about Danny or why she sought protection in the first place. It's a fascinating concept, to be honest. The person is indebted to their patron, they're forbidden to lie to their patron and only they can break the tie with their patron. The patron takes on all of this person's problems, takes care of them and protects them no matter what. Hiketeia is the sacred Themyscrian ritual in which a needy person makes a pledge to serve a kind patron in exchange for protection.
She runs to Diana's place to make Hiketeia.
